Product Review :

Brilliant

My little pup has no problems darting through the flap at the speed of light. Good quality and not too hard to fit. Looks quite tidy in the door and closes with the security flap quite snuggly when not in use. It's not draughty due to the little magnet holding the flap in place. I would recommend this to friends.

great flaps

These door flaps are great - we have 2 on other doors which are still going strong after 7 years despite dogs hurtling through like rockets.
The new one is for the conservatory - one of the dogs has taken to lying in there during the day and with the bad weather we felt we needed one there as well.

Great door, but fiddly to fit

Build quality of the door is great; it was replacing an identical door over 12 years old that had finally worn out; I have two dogs that hit it hard!

That said, it is very fiddly to install without an extra pair of hands.
Other than that very happy.

GREAT DOG FLAP

We have unfortunately been through several dog flaps over the years. Our Jack Russell doesn't like to walk through the flap - she flies through at top speed! This results in the flap not lasting very long. This one seals much better than others we have had, and lets through a lot less air from outside. It certainly appears to be a much stronger build than previous ones as well. Can be a bit noisy as the dog flies through. Time will tell whether this one stands the test of time and our dog!

Product update : It's now August 2012 and the flap is still going strong!

Ferplast dog flap is of a excellent quality and is easy to apply. The dog and 3 cats love it!

Dog loves this

Great dog flap, a little noisy, but that is probably because the dog charges through it at the speed of light. The only down side is that both my 7 year old and 9 year old boys can climb through it, so we have to lock it when we go out. Slightly defeats the object of giving the dog access to the garden whilst we are out! Locking system and dial very simple and easy to use. Simple to install.

Product Review :

Robust and hard wearing, works well.
We got this on Amazon for half the price the pet shops were charging. We previously had a smaller version fitted for our cat and terriers, but needed a bigger door for the new collie pup. This is the perfect size for him and is still light enough for the cat to push open.
This dog flap is really robust. One of our dogs (staffy cross, solid boy) charges through the door at speed, and I wouldn't hold it against the product if the flap broke off after a couple of months, but it still functions as well as always after 6 months of abuse and shows no signs of weakness!
It comes with a solid plastic cover which slots easily over the door to act as a lock and barrier, making it obvious to your pets they can't get through. Much better than other versions which allow you to lock the flap but your pets don't find out untill they've run into it!
You do need a jigsaw and drill to fit this, but minimal DIY skills as the instructions are really clear, and the frame...

Boxer Dog vs Dog Flap

Great product, fits nicely and looks great, we have a boxer dog and he has tried chewing it but its manage to last 1 month so far and I think he has lost interest now (hopefully). He was abit cautious to start with but the sound of the flap is not loud and he jumps through now without any worry, Some good background knowledge of DIY is required... Luckly we have a carpenter in the family as I am useless at any sort of DIY. All round im pleased but if I where to change anything it would be to have purchased the largest size as our dog is growing quickly...

Well worth the extra money, stronger and so much quieter

Not only is this pet door a hundred times stronger than the normal plastic one - the one I have now has been going strong for two years and still in good condition (the normal plastic one I had before it broke within a couple of days of installing), but it is also so much quieter than the plastic ones too, which is really a god-send with two dogs and three cats going in and out at all times of the day and night.

Before I'd installed it I was concerned that the flap would not fall into place properly after a while causing drafts, but the magnetic strip along the bottom of the flap keeps it in line and closed at least as well if not better than a rigid plastic flap. This product may look expensive at first glance, but I am certain that if I'd stayed with the plastic variety I would have spent considerably more in replacement doors in the last two years than this one cost me.
Springer Spaniel loves it

My springer spaniel has been dashing in and out through this door for 4 months now and it is as good as new. I had to wonder initially whether I had bought the correct size (medium) as it did not look that big when fitted (compared to my dog) but after some initial trepidation Daisy got to grips with it and found there is in fact quite a lot of room to spare.

Would recommend to anyway with dogs.

Product Review :

Undecided - Could be designed better.

I've owned several of these over the years having moved house four times in 12 years.
They work okay, the problem is that they really need a flat door to work correctly, and most doors these days are pannelled, so I've usually spent a fair bit of time with limited wood working skills to get the door suitable.
My problem with this design though is that the screw holes need to be far too close to the main hole for the door - if you slip up, the fitting is shoddy.
We've had the plastic door break a couple of times over the years, and one of our dogs managed to chew the door so badly it needed replacing.
Having cut a hole in the door, I've had to replace it with this classic design, but if I had a new door, I'd be shopping around for a better design.

Doggy door

A bit small for a medium sized labrador despite being a large size. It cracked almost straight away, midway along the the bottom after installation so impossible to return.

Easy to fit

Yes easy to fit in a flat door. In my case a upvc door. I removed the bottom panel for easy working on a bench.
The through door fixing screws are very close to the cutout, so you need to take care when drilling.
But after all of this, the product works.
Our observation though is the product has a life of approx 2 years with one dog and one cat. We are on our 3rd door now. But at least the design is fixed. So we just unbolt the old broken door and fit the new one in a few minutes. No marking out, no more sawing, etc.
